• Contract to start ASAP until 30 June 2012
• Based on APS5/6 annual salary of $67,574 - $87,449

We have a great opportunity for a non-ongoing contract through the end of the financial year for an experienced APS5/6 Procurement Officer with an influential Federal Government Department. In this position you will work to establish procurement processes and provide procurement advice and support to the Department's new Program. This will involve identifying current contractual arrangements, establishing Panel arrangements, and establish processes and procedures for the new procurement team.

In this role you will also have the opportunity to:

• Provide procurement support and advice to the Program and business projects;
• Assist with the management of the procurement processes including drafting spending proposals, contracts and variations to contracts;
• Assist external stakeholders with questions on contracts;
• Assist and support the Program's request for quote and request for tender processes; and
• Provide a high level of customer service.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, enthusiastic and reliable who works well under pressure and with limited guidance and supervision. You must also have at least 2 years of procurement experience in a government agency.

In addition, you will have:

• knowledge and understanding of the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997 and the Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines and related processes
• good judgement, intelligence and common sense;
• proven ability to work individually and as an effective team member;
• good oral and written communication skills;
• good liaison and coordination skills; and
• excellent organisational, administrative and planning skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
