We are looking for suitably qualified Senior Medical Officers for large rural/regional hospitals in Queensland.

Key accountabilities

• To provide medical care to inpatients and external clinics, under supervision when necessary.
• To provide assistance with surgical and medical procedures and outpatient clinics.
• Participate in the after hours roster as required.
• To assist in clinical audits, peer review and quality assurance programs and clinical meetings when requested.
• Review of patients and to participate with discharge planning care of patients.
• To adhere to all relevant policies and procedures in order to maintain a high degree of professional standards

Skills required

• Knowledge of clinical skills in medicine, accident/emergency, anaesthetics and obstetrics relevant to a rural/regional hospital situation.
• Commitment to long term rural/regional practice.
• Knowledge of clinical quality assurance, morbidity, mortality and medical records audits.

 
Requirements for application

• Proof of qualifications as a Medical Practitioner
• Current /unconditional/general registration
• Minimum 5 years post graduate experience as a medical officer
• Demonstrated ability to perform clinical duties at a senior level with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-displinary team
• Excellent verbal and written communications
