An exciting contract opportunity exists for a ICT Cabling Advisor to provide technical advice in all matters relating to ICT cabling infrastructure and support the Customer Service Projects team in the delivery of ICT infrastructure projects within the guidance of the departments ICT cabling standard.

Responsibilities:

• Provision ICT cabling designs for all new cabling work.
• Provide an ICT cabling advisory service to enable the development and support of systems and infrastructure. Services may include:
• Provide ICT cabling designs or facilitate their provision through engagement of a specialist ICT cabling designer;
• Audit and inspect ICT cabling infrastructure project works during their construction, commissioning and on an ongoing basis; and
• Review and provide improvements to the ICT Cabling Standard to support current and future ICT operations.
• Fostering a customer and quality service culture including communicating and negotiating with customers, service providers and project managers to ensure Customer needs are met while maintaining compliance with the ICT Cabling Standard.
• Co-ordinate with project teams both internal and external to the division to ensure an optimum outcome in the delivery of ICT infrastructure projects and services.
• Ensure that all financial and probity procedures are followed when engaging with external service providers.
• Ensure a consistent corporate approach is applied to all aspects of ICT cabling deployment and support through implementing, monitoring, development and use of corporate standards and procedures.
• Provide accurate and timely reporting as required by IT Architects, Principal Managers, Project Directors, Directors and the CIO.
• This role includes intrastate travel as approved by the Director (Business Services).

Skill set required:

• Have awareness of relevant Federal and State legislation relating to ICT cabling and associated areas along with a good working knowledge of ICT cabling trends and practices.
• Knowledge and understanding of ICT cabling design and installation procedures and an ability to apply this in support of a sites ICT infrastructure deployment or changes.
• Demonstrated experience in the activities involved in building construction and office fit-out particularly as it applies to the design and installation of ICT cabling and ICT infrastructure services like servers, voice and data networks.
• Previous experience in working closely with cabling vendors, building architects and building construction providers to deliver a successful outcome.
• Experience in managing ICT cabling and building construction vendor relationships.

Relevant industry certifications such as:

• BICSI DD 102;
• Siemon certified designer/installer;
• CNet Certified Data Centre Designer (CDCD);
• Other vendor's certified designer/installer (for example, Krone, AMPNetconnect, Molex and so on); or
• Membership to BICSI.
